Nowadays, it is extremely common to meet someone vegan or vegetarian as both are very popular among younger generations. The question is, what is a vegetarian or vegan diet? Also, what are the differences between being vegan and vegetarian?

A vegan diet excludes all meat and animal products (meat, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy, and eggs); however, a vegetarian diet excludes meat, poultry, fish, and seafood. There are a few differences between a vegetarian diet that depends on whether you eat or exclude eggs and dairy. A vegan diet is more rigorous than a vegetarian. Veganism is a way of living that pursues to exclude as far as is possible and practicable all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free options for the benefit of animals.

Being vegetarian or vegan began as a movement in defense of animals but has become a lifestyle that millions of people already adopted worldwide.

The greatest scientist, Albert Einstein, once said, “Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” Currently, younger generations are seeing what Einstein saw and are taking a step further in their diet avoiding eating food that comes from any animal. 

Being vegetarian or vegan is not an easy task for many because we live in a world in which many types of foods are made with meat, chicken, or fish.

Being vegetarian or vegan is hard and expensive nowadays compared to being a person who buys a hamburger instead of a healthy salad. Fortunately, we can find a good variety of food alternatives for vegetarian and vegan people such as veggie hamburgers, almond milk, etc, at almost any supermarket.

Younger generations want to make a clear statement and speak out on protecting animal welfare or the use of antibiotics and hormones in livestock.

They have impacted the mindset of many people and businesses hoping to see more restaurants that serve alternative healthy food options for any person who wants to adopt a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.
